On February 26th, 2018, H.E. Mr. Shen Zhifei, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Lithuania presented the letter of Credence to H.E. Dalia Grybauskaitė, President of the Republic of Lithuania.

Ambassador Shen conveyed the cordial greetings and best wishes of H.E. President Xi Jinping to H.E. President Dalia Grybauskaitė, and said although China and Lithuania are geographically far apart, the two peoples enjoy time-honored friendship. The Chinese Government values China-Lithuania relations and attaches great importance to the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries. This year, while Lithuania is celebrating the Centennial of the Restoration of the State of Lithuania, China has also entered a new era of its development. At the new historical starting point, on the basis of mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit, the Chinese side is ready to work together with the Lithuanian side to enhance mutual political trust, deepen the pragmatic beneficial cooperation and steadily push forward the sound and healthy development of the bilateral relations, as well as to make more pragmatic achievements within the framework of the "Belt and Road" and "16 + 1 cooperation".

President Dalia Grybauskaitė kindly asked Ambassador Shen to convey her warm greetings and respect to President Xi Jinping, praising President Xi as an outstanding leader with a strategic vision and expressing her welcome to the Ambassador for taking his new post in Lithuania. H.E. Ms. Dalia Grybauskaitė spoke highly of the friendly exchanges and cooperation in various fields between the two countries, saying that Lithuania stands respect for the development model of China and admires the tremendous development achievements that China has made since the reform and opening up, especially in the past five years. The Lithuania Government attaches importance to the development of Lithuania-China relations and is ready to work with the Chinese Government to further strengthen the mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries in the field of economy and trade, logistic services, agriculture, culture and people-to-people exchange for the benefit of the two peoples. President Dalia Grybauskaitė also pointed out that although Lithuania is a small EU country, it supports the development of EU relations with China and is ready to play an active role in promoting all-round cooperation between EU and China. 

Ambassador Shen Zhifei arrived in Vilnius on February 8th, 2018 and on the next day submitted a copy of the letter of Credence to Mr. Neilas Tankevičius, Director of the State and Diplomatic Protocol Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania .
