Remarks by H. E. Ambassador Shen Zhifei at the Reception to Mark the 69th China's National Day
2018-09-25 20:18
Hon. Ministers,
Hon. Members of the Seimas,
Your Excellencies,
Ladies and Gentlemen, my fellow countrymen:

Good Evening! I would like to thank all of you on behalf of Chinese Embassy for joining us at this celebration of the 69th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China. Today coincides with the Mid-Autumn Festival, a traditional Chinese festival that implies the happy family reunion. On this occasion, I wish to extend sincere regards and best wishes to all the guests tonight, and the peoples of our countries.

China today, under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, have made remarkable achievements in reforms, opening-up, economic and social development, which demonstrate that the Chinese path of Development is full of vitality. We are confident that Chinese people will keep on forging ahead, uniting as one, to realize the Chinese Dream of the Great Rejuvenation of the Chinese Nation.

China today, following the five development concepts of "innovation, coordination, green, open and sharing" and the people-centered philosophy of development, has maintained a good momentum of economic growth. In 2017, China's GDP reached US$12 trillion, representing an increase of 6.9%. In the first half of 2018, China's total GDP was about US$6.58 trillion, by an increase of 6.8%. Great progress in social undertakings have been made as well. China has not only benefited from economic globalization but also contributed to it. China's contribution to the world economic growth was over 34 percent last year, ranking the first in the major economies. China steadfastly pursues a mutually beneficial opening-up strategy, works vigorously to advance economic globalization and firmly supports multilateral trading system. Meanwhile, China will advance its opening-up to a higher level, widen the market access for foreign investment, improve the trade facilitation and enhance fairer competition.

China today, fundamentally guided by Xi Jinping's Thought on Diplomacy, adheres to peaceful development, and is ready to offer China's proposals and to make China's voice heard in international affairs, making unremitting efforts in "Building a New Type of International Relations and Building a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind." Facing more complex global challenges, China will continue on the path of major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics. The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) is not only China's specific measure to implement the new development philosophy and to realize the vision of "Building a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind.", but also Chinese approaches and Chinese wisdom, offered as public goods to the international community. The BRI adheres to the principle of "extensive consultation, joint efforts, shared benefits", and win-win cooperation, bringing development opportunities rather than harm to the security and development interest for the partner countries of the BRI.

We are delighted to witness the new development of relations between China and Lithuania, by overcoming all obstacles. The two countries have maintained a good momentum of exchanges of high-level visits and meetings, with constant enhancement of mutual political trust, sustained expansion of cooperation in such areas as trade, economy, culture, education, transportation, logistics, agriculture etc., and substantial fruits gained in jointly building the"Belt and Road", Cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European Countries ("16+1") , and other international mechanisms as well.

China and Lithuania, though geographically far away from each other, have great potentials and a bright future of exchange and cooperation in all areas, and the two peoples share the common aspirations for prosperity and better life. China is ready to work with Lithuanian government and its people to push forward the in-depth development of bilateral relations, spare no efforts to benefit the two peoples and jointly "Build a Community with a Shared Future for Mankind".

Now I wish to propose a toast:

To the 69th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China,

To the friendship and cooperation of China and Lithuania,

To the health of all distinguished guests,
Cheers!
