Tang Jiaxuan met with representatives of the Japanese Ex-journalists Delegation and representatives of the Japanese correspondents in Beijing at the Great Hall of the People. The delegation consists of ex-journalists who used to be correspondents in China.

Tang said that to develop the friendly relations between China and Japan in the new century is significant, in line with the fundamental interest of the two peoples as well as brings benefit to the peace and development to Asia and even to the world at large. The two sides should fully obey the principles and spirits of the three political documents between the two countries and make joint efforts to establish a stable, healthy and reciprocal win-win friendly cooperative relationship.

The Japanese Journalists Delegation is at the invitation of the Chinese Foreign Ministry to visit China to attend the relevant activities of commemorating the mutual sending of correspondents by China and Japan for 40 years. In the delegation there are some journalists who were among the first group of correspondents that came to China.
