Hu Jintao Arrives in Seoul for the Fifth G20 Summit

On November 11, 2010, Chinese President Hu Jintao arrived in Seoul, the capital of the Republic of Korea (ROK) for the fifth summit of the Group of Twenty (G20).

At 11:20 local time, President Hu's special plane arrived at the airport in Seoul. Hu and his wife Liu Yongqing were warmly greeted by representatives of the ROK government. Hu's entourage including Wang Qishan, Ling Jihua, Wang Huning and Dai Bingguo arrived by the same plane. Chinese Ambassador to the ROK Zhang Xinsen also welcomed Hu at the airport.

At the fifth G20 summit to be held from November 11 to 12, leaders are expected to discuss the world economic situation, the "Framework for Strong, Sustainable, and Balanced Global Growth," the reform of global financial institutions, the strengthening of financial regulations, a global financial safety net, development and trade issues. The Seoul G20 summit is the first to be held in an Asian country and also in an emerging market economy and it is of great significance to the G20's future development.

Following the summit, President Hu will go to Japan for the 18th Economic Leaders' Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) in Yokohama.
