On July 19, 2011, Lu Shaye, Secretary General of Chinese Follow-up Committee of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) and Director-General of the Department of African Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held consultations with African diplomatic envoys to China, including Ambassador of Togo to China, who is also the Dean of the African Diplomatic Corps in China, Ambassador of Egypt, the co-chair country of FOCAC, and diplomatic envoys of the 5 countries representing the African sub-regions. Lu informed the participants of the feedbacks of the African member countries of FOCAC on the joint plan for the 8th Senior Officials' Meeting of FOCAC and main preparatory work for the Senior Officials Meeting for the next phase.

African diplomatic envoys appreciated the work done by China, saying they would work closely with China to make the 8th Senior Officials' Meeting a successful event.
