Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas Meets with Wang Yi

On December 18, 2013, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Ramallahi.

Abbas expressed that Palestine-China relations have withstood the tests of history. The Palestinian side thanked China for the firm support for Palestine striving for the legitimate national interests and highly praises the four-point proposal raised by President Xi Jinping for resolving Palestine issue. Palestine is committed to resolving Palestine issue through peace talks and will continue to join in the Palestine-Israel peace talks in a constructive manner. Palestine is looking forward to the strong support from China.

Wang Yi expressed that, China unswervingly supports the unremitting efforts of Palestine for independence and to establish the Palestinian state. At present, the Palestine-Israel peace talks have entered a critical phase. We hope that Palestine will hold high the banner of peace talks, adhere to the process of peace talks and promote reasonable propositions, trying to win broader understanding and support from the international community.

Prior to the meeting, Wang Yi laid a wreath at the tomb of Yasser Arafat, the former Palestinian leader.
