2013-12-19 15:34

In the afternoon of December 19, 2013, Premier Li Keqiang of the State Council met at Ziguangge of Zhongnanhai with US Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker, Trade Representative Michael Froman and Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack, who came to China for the 24th Meeting of China-US Joint Commission on Commerce and Trade (JCCT).

Li Keqiang said, for the past 35 years since the establishment of China-US diplomatic relationship, bilateral cooperation has been unceasingly expanded and common interests have far outweighed the differences. Hope that both sides will always view bilateral relations from an overall and long-term perspective, seize the opportunities, tap to the full the potentials of cooperation, respect each other for the core interests and major concerns and properly manage differences so as to promote healthy and steady development of China-US relations.

Li Keqiang expressed that, fully deepening reform and further expanding opening up is an unswerving direction for China to move forward as well as the only way for China to realize modernization. Economic and trade cooperation is the "ballast stone" for China-US relations. Both sides should fully leverage complementary advantages to upgrade the quality and level of cooperation. China expects that the United States will relax restrictions on high-tech export to China and will provide favourable circumstances for Chinese businesses to invest in the US. Hope that both sides will, in the spirit of being practical and enterprising, and of mutual understanding and accommodation, strengthen dialogue and communication to push for the positive outcomes of the 24th Meeting of China-US Joint Commission on Commerce and Trade (JCCT) so as to further deepen China-US economic and trade cooperation.

The three US Ministers expressed that the US and China maintaining strong economic relations is crucially important to both sides. The bilateral economic and trade cooperation covers extensive areas and is with broad prospectives. The United States respects very much China and the Chinese people. The US is ready to carry out candid dialogue and communication with China, to work together for planing and unceasingly expanding cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, telecommunications, agriculture, food safety and protection of intellectual property rights and to properly manage issues coming out from the cooperation in a bid to ensure more outcomes of bilateral cooperation.
