On December 22, 2013, Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika met in Algiers with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

Bouteflika expressed that, Algeria will always remember China’s long-time support and help for Algeria. China is a reliable friend and partner of Algeria. Algeria is willing to work with China to establish Algeria-China comprehensive strategic partnership at an early date so as to push for greater achievements of bilateral relations.

Wang Yi expressed that President Abdelaziz Bouteflika is an old friend and a good friend of the Chinese people. He has made great contributions to the establishment of China-Algeria diplomatic relationship and to China restoring its lawful seat in the United Nations. He is deeply respected by the Chinese people. For the past 55 years since the establishment of diplomatic relationship, both sides have always trusted and supported each other and bilateral cooperation yielded fruitful outcomes in all fields. China and Algeria are now facing important opportunities for developing their relations. China is ready to work with Algeria to establish China-Algeria comprehensive strategic partnership at an early date. China highly values the important status and role of Algeria. China is willing to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in international and regional affairs so as to positively safeguard the common interests of the developing countries.
