The 24th Meeting of China-US Joint Commission on Commerce and Trade (JCCT) was held from December 19 to 20, 2013 in Beijing. Vice Premier Wang Yang of the State Council, US Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker and US Trade Representative Michael Froman co-chaired the meeting. Tom Vilsack, US Secretary of Agriculture attended the meeting.

Wang Yang said that this year coincides with the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the China-US JCCT meeting. The JCCT meeting has gone through an extraordinary process over the 30 years, and its achievements have attracted worldwide attention, making positive efforts and contributions to the China-US economic and trade cooperation. The just concluded Third Plenary Session of the 18th CPC Central Committee made important deployments to comprehensively deepen reform and expand opening-up, which provides strong support for further deepening China-US economic and trade cooperation. The JCCT meeting should continue to play its role as an "extinguisher" for economic and trade frictions and as an "propeller" for pragmatic cooperation, earnestly implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state at their meeting, and further develop new cooperation opportunities and convergence points of interests, paving a solid foundation for building a new model of major-country relations between China and the US.

The US said that the bilateral relationship has enjoyed positive and active development this year. It looks forward to the vision of reform planned at the Third Plenary Session of the 18th CPC Central Committee being converted into the actual achievements in China-US economic and trade cooperation as soon as possible, benefiting the enterprises and the people on both sides.

At the JCCT meeting, the two sides widely and deeply discussed more than 40 topics in the fields of trade, investment and others, achieving fruitful results. Both sides agreed to jointly promote the exports of China's self-produced cooked poultry to the US and the exports of the US beef to China. The two sides also reached consensus on protecting commercial secret, authorizing software, expanding opening-up of services and general manufacturing industries, opening up e-commerce business, joining the Government Procurement Agreement, fairly treating the Chinese enterprises investing in the US, promoting exports of high-tech products to China for civil use, and other topics.

Wang Yang, Penny Pritzker and Michael Froman jointly attended the signing ceremony of the inter-governmental cooperative documents.
