Wang Yi Meets with GCC Secretary General Abdul Latif Bin Rashid Al Zayani

On December 25, 2013, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met in Riyadh with GCC Secretary General Abdul Latif Bin Rashid Al Zayani.

Wang Yi expressed that China and six GCC countries are all good friends. China and GCC are political, economic, trade and strategic partners for each other and China-GCC relations have set up an example for the cooperation between China and Arab nations. China has consistently valued the important status and role of the GCC and is ready to maintain strategic dialogue with GCC so as to promote all-dimensional cooperation. Both sides should work together to restart China-GCC FTA negotiations at an early date. It not only follows the trend of the times, but also conforms to the common interests of both sides. Both sides can also strengthen cooperation in infrastructure construction and other fields to enrich the contents of practical cooperation.

Abdul Latif Bin Rashid Al Zayani expressed, GCC-China strategic relations have enjoyed important development and China is a reliable friend of GCC. Both sides enjoy sound political mutual trust and share extensive common interest as well as similar positions in international and regional affairs. Strengthening friendly cooperation with China is the common wish of the state leaders of GCC countries. GCC is ready to deepen strategic dialogue with China, to explore mutually beneficial cooperation, to maintain close communication on advancing FTA negotiations and to enhance coordination and cooperation on Palestine-Israel peace talks, Syria and other issues.
