President of Ethiopia Mulatu Teshome Meets with Wang Yi

On January 6, 2014, President of Ethiopia Mulatu Teshome met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi at the Presidential Palace in Addis Ababa.

Mulatu Teshome expressed that China is a great country. China has offered great help to Ethiopia in quite a number of fields including investment, infrastructure construction and energy development. It has promoted economic transition and development of Ethiopia and set an example for South-South cooperation. Ethiopia is deeply grateful for this. Ethiopia cherishes relations with China and is willing to strengthen cooperation with China in political, economic, trade, cultural and other fields so as to unceasingly expand common interests and to better benefit the two peoples.

Wang Yi expressed, President Mulatu studied in China when he was young and served as Ambassador to China. He is an old friend and good friend of the Chinese people and has made long-time and unremitting efforts for the development of China-Ethiopia relations. China and Ethiopia have always supported and helped each other. Bilateral relations have withstood the tests of historical vicissitudes and are unbreakable. China fully deepening reform and opening up will provide important opportunities for the development of Africa as well as a strong driving force for China-Ethiopia cooperation. China is ready to work with Ethiopia to earnestly implement the consensus reached between the state leaders of both sides on developing China-Ethiopia relations, to adhere to the correct concept of morality and benefits proposed by President Xi Jinping, to insist on prioritizing morality, to carry forward the traditional friendship and to promote common development.
