Wang Yi Holds Talks with Foreign Minister Mankeur Ndiaye of Senegal

On January 10, 2014, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks with Foreign Minister Mankeur Ndiaye of Senegal in Dakar.

Wang Yi expressed, since the resumption of China-Senegal diplomatic relationship, bilateral relations have enjoyed rapid development. China is ready, on the existing sound basis of China-Senegal relations, to unceasingly deepen all-dimensional cooperation so as to ensure that China and Senegal will truly become reliable partners of political mutual trust, economic common development and mutual support in international affairs.

Ndiaye expressed that China is a brotherly friend of Senegal. China has treated Senegal on an equal footing in the political field and offered a great deal of economic help to Senegal. It has promoted revitalization and development of Senegal. Consolidating and deepening Senegal-China relations is an unswerving choice of strategy for Senegal. Senegal is willing to unceasingly expand cooperation between the two countries.

Both sides agreed that the two countries should deepen political mutual trust and firmly support each other’s core interests and major concerns. Both sides should strengthen practical cooperation and further promote cooperation especially in infrastructure construction and other fields most needed by Senegal’s economic and social development. Both sides should boost people-to-people and cultural exchanges and enhance friendly feelings between the two peoples. Both sides should maintain communication and coordination in international and regional affairs to jointly safeguard regional peace and stability.

Following the talks, Wang Yi and Ndiaye signed the agreement on establishing the mechanism of consultations between the Foreign Ministries of the two countries.
