On January 12, 2014, Ali Mohamed Shein, Zanzibar President of Tanzania, met with Jiang Weixin, Special Envoy of President Xi Jinping and Minister of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, at the Presidential Palace of Zanzibar.

Jiang Weixin conveyed the sincere greetings from President Xi Jinping and Vice President Li Yuanchao to Shein and expressed warm congratulations on the 50th anniversary of the victory of the Zanzibar Revolution. Jiang Weixin said, in recent years, Zanzibar has made significant achievements in development in all fields. China sincerely rejoices over this. China highly values China-Tanzania as well as China-Zanzibar relations. China is ready to work closely with Zanzibar to well implement the consensus reached between the leaders of the two sides and to provide more help for Zanzibar reaching development goals.

Shein thanked President Xi Jinping for sending the Special Envoy to attend the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the victory of Zanzibar Revolution and asked Special Envoy Jiang Weixin to convey the best wishes to President Xi Jinping and Vice President Li Yuanchao. Shein said that China is one of the first countries to recognize the victory of Zanzibar Revolution and to offer assistance to Zanzibar. For the past 50 years, China has made important contributions to the cause of development and construction in Zanzibar. The government and people of Zanzibar are deeply grateful for this and look forward to working with the Chinese side to unceasingly deepen cooperation in all fields so as to benefit the people of both sides.
