Wang Yi said, China, following the UN resolutions and the related international law, has sent escorting naval fleets to the Gulf of Aden and waters off Somali coast. So far, China has sent out 16 naval fleets escorting more than 5,300 ships, safeguarded the peace and tranquility of the waters and ensured the safety of navigation of ships from various countries. In this process, Djibouti has provided Chinese naval fleets total supply, emergency support and other conveniences. China appreciates this, and is willing, based on this, to carry out more stable and longer-term cooperation with Djibouti.

Wang pointed out that China is an active participant in Africa's peace and security affairs. In addition to the escort for ships and anti-terrorism, China has also participated in 15 UN peacekeeping operations in Africa and sent a large number of peacekeepers. At the moment, there are still more than 1,800 peacekeeping officials and soldiers executing their missions in Africa. China has sent the largest number of peacekeeping personnel among Permanent Members of the UN Security Council, and paid the largest amount of peacekeeping funds among developing countries. In the future, China will more actively participate in the UN peacekeeping operations in Africa.

Wang Yi stressed that, as a Permanent Member of the United Nations Security Council, China is aware of our own responsibilities in safeguarding international and regional peace and security. We will continue our opposition to all forms of terrorism in the United Nations and other international occasions, will administer justice in Africa's peace and security affairs, and will speak out for African countries to safeguard their legitimate rights and interests. China has already put forward the "Initiative on China-Africa Cooperative Partnership for Peace and Security", and will further strengthen cooperation in the field of peace and security with the African Union and African countries, including Djibouti, within this framework
