Li Yuanchao Meets with Special Envoy of Sri Lankan President

On February 11, 2014, Vice President Li Yuanchao met with Special Envoy of Sri Lankan President and Minister of External Affairs Gamini Lakshman Peiris in Beijing.

Li Yuanchao said, since the establishment of China-Sri Lanka diplomatic relationship, the bilateral relations have always enjoyed stable and healthy development. Last year, the two heads of state announced to upgrade China-Sri Lanka relationship to a strategic partnership. The bilateral relationship thus entered into a new stage of development. Hope that the two sides, giving consideration of their own national development strategy, will advance practical cooperation, deepen the integration of interests, strengthen support to each other, and be each other’s trustworthy friend.

Gamini Lakshman Peiris said that Sri Lanka attaches great importance to developing relations with China, and is willing to strengthen high-level exchanges and all-round cooperation with China to promote the bilateral strategic partnership to a new high.
