Foreign Minister Wang Yi Holds Talks with French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius

On February 21, 2014, Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks with French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius in Beijing.

Wang Yi pointed out that both sides are grandly celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of China-France diplomatic relationship. Currently, China-France relations are at an important stage of inheriting the past and opening up the future. China is ready to maintain close exchanges and strategic communication with the French side, deepen practical cooperation in various fields, enhance people-to-people and cultural exchanges and strengthen communication and coordination in international and regional affairs so as to push forward the continuous development of China-France relations and China-Europe relations.

Fabius said both sides should summarize the successful experience and open up the bright future in such an important year for France-China relations. France is willing to well organize various commemorative activities celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relationship with the Chinese side, gather consensus of both countries, facilitate mutually beneficial cooperation and enhance friendship between both peoples to upgrade the bilateral relations to a new level.

Both sides expressed that they will make joint efforts to ensure the success of the meetings between the two heads of state in the near future, to lead China-France relations with a strategic perspective and to promote the cooperation in vital areas.

The two sides also exchanged views on international and regional issues of common interests.
