Perera and Important Consensus on Uplifting the Consular Cooperation between China and Sri Lanka Are Reached

On February 20, 2014, Huang Ping, Director-General of the Department of Consular Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, met with E. Rodney M. Perera, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs of Sri Lanka in Colombo and the two sides had an in-depth exchange of views on promoting bilateral personnel exchanges, strengthening consular cooperation, and other topics. Both sides agreed that with the deepening of friendship and the integration of interests, the bilateral personnel exchanges will continue to increase. It is therefore necessary to establish a consultation mechanism between the consular affairs departments of the two countries and build a new order for bilateral personnel exchanges. Ambassador of China to Sri Lanka Wu Jianghao, Political Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka Ren Faqiang, Director General of Consular Affairs Division of the Sri Lankan Ministry of External Affairs Gunatillake, and Director General of the East Asia Division of the Ministry of External Affairs of Sri Lanka Shobini Gunasekara attended the talks.
