UK Prime Minister David Cameron Meets with Yang Jiechi

On February 27, 2014, UK Prime Minister David Cameron met with Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi in London.

Cameron said that UK-China relations have entered a new stage of development at present. The British side is willing to further enhance high-level exchanges with the Chinese side, to expand mutually beneficial cooperation and personnel exchanges, and to reinforce communication and coordination in international and regional affairs, so as to promote the bilateral relations for more outcomes. The British side pursues a free and open economic policy, and is ready to play a positive role in the development of Europe-China relations.

Yang Jiechi said, Mr. Prime Minister paid a successful visit to China last year, during which the leaders of both countries reached important consensus on further development of China-UK relations.My visit to UK this time is to better implement the important consensus reached by the two leaders and to exchange views with the British side on China-UK relations, China-Europe relations and other topics of common interest. By taking advantages of high-level visits and exchange mechanisms at various levels and in various fields, the Chinese side is willing to conduct in-depth communication and make long-term plan with the British side regarding the bilateral relations, to enhance mutual understanding and political mutual trust, to promote practical cooperation and to reinforce coordination and cooperation in international affairs and global issues, so as to once again promote the China-UK relations to a new level. China always attaches importance to Europe and China-Europe relations from a strategic perspective. The Chinese side is willing to join hands with Europe to push forward China-Europe relations for further development, and jointly promote the peace, development and prosperity in the world.
