In the evening of March 5, 2014, Foreign Minister Wang Yi held telephone talks with Polish Foreign Minister Radek Sikorski. They discussed the situation in Ukraine.

Wang Yi stated China's principle position. He expressed that China supports the mediation efforts of the international community and hopes a political settlement of the Ukrainian crisis could be found at an early date, so as to effectively guarantee the legitimate rights and interests of all ethnic groups in Ukraine, to avoid the escalation of tensions, and to safeguard regional peace and stability.

Radek Sikorski said that the Polish side is willing to keep contacts with China on finding political settlement for Ukrainian crisis.
