In the afternoon of March 8, 2014, Foreign Minister Wang Yi held telephone talks with French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius again with his request. They discussed the situation in Ukraine.

Fabius briefed France's view on the latest development of the situation. Wang Yi stated China's position. He expressed the hope that both sides could handle the issue in a calm manner, keep consultations and try to pull the Ukrainian issue back on the track of political settlement.

The two sides also exchanged views on China-France relations.
