Vice Foreign Minister Xie Hangsheng Meets with Malaysian Prime Minister's Special Envoy to China Ong Ka Ting

On March 11, 2014, Vice Foreign Minister Xie Hangsheng met with visiting Malaysian Prime Minister's Special Envoy to China Ong Ka Ting in Beijing. Malaysian Ambassador to China Iskandar Sarudin was present.

Xie said that the Chinese government and public are deeply concerned and very anxious about the loss of contact of the Malaysia Airlines flight and the safety of the passengers on board. China appreciates and recognizes Malaysia's sincerity and positive efforts, yet also urges Malaysia to continue the all-out search and rescue work and to work closely with the Chinese search and rescue forces, never giving up any glimpse of hope. Meanwhile, China hopes Malaysia will listen attentively to questions and appeals from the families of the Chinese passengers, and make their timely response, to keep the families updated on the latest progress. China is willing to keep close contact and cooperation with Malaysia in this regard.

Ong Ka Ting, on behalf of Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak, once again expressed deep apologies to China over the loss of contact of the Malaysia Airlines flight and extended their sincerest condolences to the families and relatives of the Chinese passengers. Malaysia will spare no efforts and do its utmost in the search and rescue work and in consoling the affected families.
