Vice Foreign Minister Xie Hangsheng Meets with Overseas Chinese Representatives Attending the Second Session of the Twelfth National People's Congress as Nonvoting Delegates

On March 10, 2014, Vice Foreign Minister Xie Hangsheng met with overseas Chinese representatives, who were invited to attend the Second Session of the Twelfth National People's Congress as nonvoting delegates in Beijing, at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse.

Xie Hangsheng introduced China's political and economic situation and diplomatic work in 2013. He affirmed the important role of the overseas Chinese in promoting China's modernization construction, safeguarding China's sovereignty and the overall national interests, and enhancing exchanges between China and the countries they reside in. Xie said that the Chinese Foreign Ministry and the Chinese Embassies stationed abroad will, as always, continue to provide better consular services to overseas Chinese, and hoped that the overseas Chinese make more contributions to the realization of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. The representatives spoke highly of China's development achievements, and said that they will continue to make contributions to promoting China's modernization construction.

Xie Hangsheng also briefed on the Chinese government's work on dealing with the loss of contact of the Malaysia Airlines flight.
