Chinese Government Joint Work Team Works with Search and Rescue Control Centre of Malaysian Department of Civil Aviation

On March 13, 2014, the Chinese government joint work team and diplomats of the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia went to the search and rescue control centre of Malaysian Department of Civil Aviation, trying to find more detailed information of the search and rescue operations. They had in-depth talks with the executive persons from the center and other relevant departments including Malaysian National Security Council present there.

Guo Shaochun, the team leader and Deputy Director-General of the Department of Consular Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that the Chinese government and people are extremely concerned about the incident of the loss of contact of the Malaysia Airlines flight and anxiously look forward to an early progress of the search and rescue operation. He urged the departments concerned of the Malaysian side could strengthen coordination, intensify search and rescue efforts, and improve the transparency and authority of the released information at the same time. The members from different departments of the work team also conducted communications with the officials from the Malaysian side.

The Malaysian side said that Malaysia is sympathetic to the anxiety of the Chinese government and people, and they are conducting all-out search and rescue operation. Malaysia's departments in charge will keep close contact and work with the Chinese joint work team and the Chinese Embassy, and make timely and effective responses to China's concerns.
