On March 11, 2014, Vice Foreign Minister Wang Chao met with Carmen Cano, Chargé d'affaires ad interim of the Delegation of the European Union (EU) to China. Wang Chao said that China-EU relations now enjoy a sound momentum for development and the bilateral cooperation in all fields has yielded fruitful achievements. China is willing to make joint efforts with the EU to promote the constant advancement of China-EU comprehensive strategic partnership.

Cano said that China is a key cooperative partner of the EU. The EU is willing to work with China to effectively implement the "EU-China 2020 Strategic Agenda for Cooperation", exploring for deeper and broader areas of practical cooperation, as well as upgrading EU-China relations.
