Li Yuanchao Holds Talks with Crown Prince Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the First Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister of Saudi Arabia

On March 14, 2014, Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao held talks with the Crown Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of Saudi Arabia in Beijing.

Li Yuanchao said,China and Saudi Arabia enjoy comprehensive and steady development of the strategic friendly relations. Both countries should consolidate mutual political trust, expand cooperation in energy, infrastructure construction, high technology, security, anti-terrorism and other fields, accelerate the negotiations between China and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Free Trade Area, and strengthen the cooperation in the construction of the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Silk Road on the Sea, to open new pages for China-Saudi Arabia relations.

Salman said that Saudi Arabia attaches great importance to the friendly cooperative relations with China. His visit this time has reached extensive consensus with China, which would strongly promote a broader strategic cooperation between the two countries.

Both sides also exchanged in-depth views on current hotspot issues. Following the meeting, they jointly attended the signing ceremony of the relevant cooperation documents in the fields of quality inspection, investment, space science and technology and others.

On March 13, Li Chaoyuan held a welcoming ceremony for Salman at the North Hall of the Great Hall of the People. Wang Qinmin, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), was present at the ceremony.
