On March 14, 2014, Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Jianchao met with Ambassador Shin Bong-kil of ROK Foreign Ministry for Northeast Asian Cooperation. Shin Bong-kil introduced the Northeast Asia Peace and Cooperation Initiative proposed by ROK President Park Geun-hye. Liu expounded on China's principle position on the initiative, and said that China hopes all relevant parties in the region jointly commit themselves to realizing peace, cooperation and development in Northeast Asia.
