On March 18, 2014, Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks with visiting Ugandan Minister of Foreign Affairs Sam Kutesa.

Wang Yi said that for the 52 years since the establishment of the diplomatic relationship between China and Uganda, the two countries have always enjoyed the sincere and friendly bilateral relations and overall development of cooperation in various fields. The two countries should enhance exchanges between governments, legislative bodies, political parties, local authorities and others, strengthen cooperation in infrastructure construction, energy resources development, agriculture, telecommunications, tourism, human resources and other fields, and effectively push forward major cooperation projects. The two sides should also expand people-to-people and cultural exchanges, strengthen the friendship and the deep feelings between the two peoples, the young generation in particular, so as to firmly cement the social basis of the bilateral relations. Strengthening bilateral cooperation in the United Nations and other multilateral organizations conforms to the common interests of China and Uganda and other African countries.

Kutesa said that Uganda cherishes the friendly cooperative relations with China, and is grateful to the Chinese government and people for their long-term and selfless assistance in Uganda's economic and social development and construction. Uganda and China should further reinforce coordination and cooperation in international affairs to well safeguard the common interests of the developing countries.

Kutesa noted that the Ugandan side condemns the violent terrorist attack at the railway station in Kunming. He as well extended condolences to the Chinese side for the loss of contact of the Malaysia Airlines flight.

Both sides also exchanged views on UN affairs and international and regional hotspot issues.
