On March 28 local time, President Xi Jinping arrived in Berlin, starting his state visit to Germany.

At around 10:20 a.m. local time, March 28, President Xi Jinping's special plane landed at the Tegel Airport in Berlin. When President Xi and his wife Mme. Peng Liyuan stepped out of the plane, 21-gun salute was fired. German Secretary of State for the Presidential Palace Kiel greeted them beside the ramp.

Xi Jinping said, this is my first state visit to Germany after taking office as Chinese President. China and Germany have achieved fruitful cooperative results in all fields for the past 40 plus years since the establishment of the diplomatic relationship. China and Germany now share broader common interests and embrace brand new opportunities for the development of the bilateral cooperation. I am looking forward, through this visit, together with the German leaders, to charting the course and mapping out blueprints for the development of China-Germany relations, and to making extensive contacts with people from all circles of the society in Germany to discuss our cooperation and to plant the seed of friendship, so as to promote the China-Germany strategic partnership to a new high.

Wang Huning, Li Zhanshu, Yang Jieshi and other delegation members arrived by the same plane..

H.E. Shi Mingde, Chinese Ambassador to Germany, greeted the delegation at the airport.

Xi Jinping arrived in Berlin after concluding his state visit to France. French Keeper of the Seals and Minister of Justice Christiane Taubira, Provincial Governor of Val-de-Marne Leroux and other French senior officials saw him off at the airport. A grand farewell ceremony was held at the airport. Xi Jinping reviewed the Honor Guard and the military band played the national anthems of both China and France.

Germany is the third stop of Xi Jinping's European tour. Xi Jinping will then pay a state visit to Belgium and a visit to the EU headquarters.
