On April 16, 2019, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held the 18th promotion event presenting Chinese provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities under the theme of China in the New Era: A Dynamic Tianjin Going Global at the Blue Hall of the Ministry. Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Secretary of the CPC Tianjin Municipal Committee Li Hongzhong and State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi attended and addressed the event. Mayor of Tianjin Zhang Guoqing gave the presentation. More than 500 people including Vice Foreign Minister Le Yucheng, Vice Foreign Minister Qin Gang and Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Hanhui, diplomatic envoys in China from over 150 countries, representatives from international organizations in China, delegates from industrial and commercial sectors, Chinese and foreign experts, scholars as well as journalists attended the event. Under the guidance of the vision of innovative, coordinated, green, open and shared development required by General Secretary Xi Jinping, Tianjin will continuously expand opening up, deeply integrate into the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative, and enhance exchanges and cooperation in various fields with various countries in the world, so as to jointly write the new chapter of cooperation, development, mutual benefit and win-win results in the new era. Wang Yi noted that Tianjin is a pioneer of modern industrial civilization in China. In recent years, Tianjin has resolutely implemented the new development concept, and its cause of reform and opening up is beaming with vigor. As a land-sea intersection in the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative, and an important pivot in the economic corridor of the new Eurasian Land Bridge, Tianjin has once again stood at the forefront of the new round of reform and opening up since General Secretary Xi Jinping's proposal of the Belt and Road Initiative. Wang Yi said that next week, China will hold the second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in Beijing. We will uphold the principle of extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits, take mutual benefit and win-win results as guidance and connectivity as the mainline, and push the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative for high-quality development, so as to join hands in building an open world economy, open up broader space for international economic cooperation, and provide stronger impetus for global development and prosperity. Wang Yi stressed that opening up and cooperation is an irreversible trend of the times, and also the continuous driving force of China's development. Russian Ambassador to China Andrey Denisov, Singaporean Ambassador to China Stanley Loh Ka Leung, Angolan Ambassador to China João Salvador dos Santos Neto, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to China Jang Ha-sung and German Ambassador to China Clemens von Goetze successively introduced the exchanges and cooperation between their countries and Tianjin in their speeches.
