On July 5, 2019, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held the 19th promotion event presenting Chinese provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities under the theme of "China in the New Era: Eco-friendly Fujian, Gateway for the Maritime Silk Road" at the Blue Hall of the Ministry. State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi addressed the event. Secretary of the Fujian Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Yu Weiguo delivered a speech, and Governor of the People's Government of Fujian Province Tang Dengjie gave the presentation. More than 500 people attended the event, including Party Secretary of the CPC Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Qi Yu, Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Hanhui, diplomatic envoys in China from over 140 countries, representatives from international organizations in China, delegates from industrial and commercial sectors, Chinese and foreign experts, scholars, and journalists as well as Taiwan compatriots.

Wang Yi gave a welcome to Taiwan compatriots for their first attendance at the promotion event held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, indicating that it fully demonstrated that Fujian and Taiwan are deeply connected.

Wang Yi said that Fujian has grown and prospered along the sea since ancient time. Its favorable geographical position endows the province with such outstanding qualities as open-mindedness, inclusiveness, and a hard-working and enterprising spirit. Fujian is the starting point of the ancient Maritime Silk Road, from which ancient China brought peace and cooperation to countries all over the world, and nurtured the Silk Road spirit of mutual learning as well as friendly interaction. The industrious and brave Fujian people have left their footprints all over the world, contributing to the local development with wisdom and hard work.

Wang Yi pointed out that Fujian is resolutely carrying out the strategy of building an ecological province proposed by General Secretary Xi Jinping and is vigorously driving forward the construction of the ecological pilot zone. Ecological Fujian and Refreshing Fujian have become a golden image of Fujian. Fujian has continued to make the most of its geographical advantages, steadily promoted the construction of the core area of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road and continuously improved the connectivity of sea, land, and air as well as information channel. China-Europe freight trains have reached 12 countries in Asia and Europe. It is believed that under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core, together with the CPC Fujian Provincial Committee, Fujian people who have inherited the tradition of openness and hard work will surely break new grounds and make new achievements in the new era.

Wang Yi stressed that over the past 70 years, the CPC has remained true to its original aspirations, united and led the Chinese people in sticking to the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics, and made great achievements in its own development. The CPC is making great strides towards the goal of national rejuvenation. The CPC is also a party with global vision, and always takes the goal of making new and greater contributions to mankind as its own mission. China in the new era is imbuing this mission with broader and deeper connotations. China firmly upholds the international law as well as norms governing international relations and is becoming an important stabilizing force in the world to promote peace and development. China quickens its pace to form a new landscape of opening up and strives to promote high-quality development, which will be sure to bring more opportunities and greater dividends to the world.

Wang Yi particularly recommended to the diplomatic envoys of various countries Up and Out of Poverty, an important work on alleviating poverty and accelerating development written by President Xi Jinping during his work in Fujian.

Yu Weiguo mainly introduced the construction of ecological civilization as well as the opening up in Fujian. He said that Fujian has long been dedicated to the strategy of making it an ecological province put forward by President Xi Jinping, actively carried out institutional innovation for promoting ecological progress, and achieved remarkable results in energy conservation and emission reduction, thus achieving integration between "high-profile" ecology and "high-quality" development. Fujian has long been in the frontier of the opening up and formed a new wide-ranging, multiple-layered and comprehensive opening up pattern at a high level. Fujian will continue to implement President Xi Jinping's important guiding principles, speed up its pace to build a new Fujian with flexible system, optimal industry, better-off citizens and excellent ecology. Tang Dengjie presented Fujian from such aspects as ecological environment, business environment and market prospect. People of all walks of life, both home and abroad, are welcome to visit and invest in Fujian, to share development opportunities and deepen practical cooperation.

Indonesian Ambassador to China Djauhari Oratmangun, Japanese Ambassador to China Yutaka Yokoi, and French Ambassador to China Jean-Maurice Ripert delivered speeches respectively. They spoke highly of the fruitful achievements of China's reform and opening up and China's diplomacy in the new era, gave full recognition to Fujian's geographical advantages, ecological achievements as well as fruitful cooperation with their countries across various fields, and expressed the willingness to actively push the friendly exchanges and mutually beneficial cooperation between Fujian and their countries to a new level.

Prior to the event, the People's Government of Fujian held a talkfest for multinationals. Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Hanhui and Vice Governor of the People's Government of Fujian Guo Ningning were present.
