Xi Jinping Attends and Chairs High-level Roundtable on South-South Cooperation
2015-12-19 03:58

On September 26 local time, President Xi Jinping attended, chaired and addressed the High-level Roundtable on South-South Cooperation co-hosted by China and the United Nations (UN) at the UN headquarters in New York, stressing that the South-South cooperation features equality and mutual trust.

Politically, we adhere to the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence and basic norms governing international relations, stick to the principle that all countries, big or small, are equal, never interfere with each other's internal affairs and respect the development paths and social systems independently chosen by each other. Economically, we respect other countries' will and never impose our own wills on others. We neither take advantage of other countries' precarious situations nor attach any political strings.

South-South cooperation is defined by mutual benefit and win-win result. We uphold a correct viewpoint of righteousness and benefit that considers both justice and interests and prioritizes justice over interests, see the development of other countries as opportunities, and do not pursue maximum economic returns or follow the mindset of zero-sum games. We pay attention to connectivity, combine our complementary advantages, and join hands to explore the global market and integrate ourselves into the global industrial chain and value chain, so as to secure a favorable position in the new round of scientific and technological revolution.

South-South Cooperation features solidarity and mutual assistance. We maintain communication and coordination with each other through such mechanisms as the Non-Aligned Movement and the Group of 77, safeguard international fairness and justice, defend legitimate rights and interests, and have grown into an important force in safeguarding world peace and promoting common development. We attend to the special needs of the least developed countries, landlocked countries and small island developing countries, provide them with aid, and help them improve their self-development capabilities.
