On June 14, 2006, Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing wrote a letter in reply to Foreign Minister Miodrag Vlahović of the Republic of Montenegro, saying that the Chinese government decided from then on to recognize the Republic of Montenegro and stressing that the Chinese side is willing to developing the friendly and cooperative relations with the Republic of Montenegro on the basis of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence.
