Hu Jintao commended the Forum for its smooth operation over the past year. He pointed out that the year 2011 marks the 10th anniversary of the Forum. Over the past decade, the Forum has gradually developed into one of the influential economic forums in the world, playing an active role in promoting regional economic cooperation in Asia and strengthening dialogue and cooperation between Asia and the rest of the world.

Hu pointed out that the annual meeting of the Forum has selected "Inclusive Development: Common Agenda and New Challenges" as the theme of the year, which is a far-sighted move. Hu expressed the hope that at the annual meeting this year, the participants could exchange ideas and views around the theme, have in-depth discussions, and contribute ideas and wisdom to the goal of inclusive and sustainable development.

Hu stressed that China has always attached great importance to the development of the Forum, provided strong support for the building of the Forum, and actively participated in the activities of the Forum. China is happy for the growth and achievements of the Forum and is willing to work together with the countries that care about the development of Asia to provide continuous support for the development of the Forum and contribute to the economic development of Asia and the world.

Former Japanese Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda, Chairman of the BFA Board of Directors, representing the BFA Board of Directors, expressed sincere thanks to China for the support and cooperation. He said that the annual meeting of the Forum will be held tomorrow and President Hu Jintao will attend the opening ceremony and deliver a keynote speech. The members of the Board of Directors are willing to go all out for the success of the annual meeting and the development of the Forum.

After the meeting, President Hu Jintao and his wife Liu Yongqing attended the reception for the leaders attending the third BRICS leaders meeting and the annual meeting of the Boao Forum for Asia in 2011 and watched the performances together with the other leaders. Chinese and foreign artists on stage presented a brilliant show, winning warm applause from the audience from time to time.
