On June 24, 2012 (local time), Premier Wen Jiabao of the State Council, who was paying an official visit to Argentina, visited the Republic Farm in the outskirts of Buenos Aires in the company of Speaker of Argentina's Lower House Julian Dominguez and Agriculture Minister Norberto Yauhar.

Premier Wen was warmly welcomed by the owner of the farm and the local people. Premier Wen asked about the operations of the farm and the variety of livestock with great interest. He also watched the national and cultural performances. Subsequently, he had discussions with agricultural officials and people from the agriculture and animal husbandry sectors of Argentina.

Having heard the introductions to the agriculture and animal husbandry sectors in Argentina, Premier Wen said that he had brought with him the profound friendship of the Chinese people to the Argentine people. China and Argentina both have big agriculture and animal husbandry sectors. The two countries have respective features and advantages in these sectors, which are highly complementary to each other. Argentina has abundant resources and advanced technology. China has tremendous market potentials. The two countries enjoy a good foundation and a promising prospect for cooperation in agriculture and animal husbandry sectors. The agricultural and livestock trade between the two countries last year amounted to nearly $5.5 billion, most of which were the export from Argentina to China. China is willing to expand direct trade of agricultural and livestock products with Argentina and strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation in such fields as agricultural investment, infrastructure construction, and science & technology so as to promote the development of agriculture and animal husbandry sectors of the two countries, enrich bilateral strategic partnership and benefit both peoples.

The Argentine side said Premier Wen's visit to Argentina will effectively promote the bilateral relations, especially cooperation in the areas of agriculture and animal husbandry and bring more tangible benefits to both sides. Argentina-China friendship will be further consolidated and developed through Premier Wen’s visit.
