2012-09-28 11:09

On the morning of September 27, 2012, Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi attended the Fourth Ministerial Meeting of the Friends of Yemen in New York and delivered a speech.

Yang noted that thanks to the joint efforts by all relevant parties, positive progress has been achieved in Yemen's political transition and economic reconstruction, but the process is still faced with difficulties and challenges. The country still needs great attention and support from the international community. In order to realize stability and development in Yemen at an early date, all parties concerned should support a peaceful and orderly political transition in the country, and help Yemen to restore its economy and substantially improve security conditions. Meanwhile, efforts should also be made to strengthen international cooperation on the issue and build a stronger mechanism for the Friends of Yemen.

As a sincere friend to the people of Yemen, Yang added, China has always supported the Yemeni government in its political transition and economic reconstruction with concrete measures. China will, as always, conduct friendly exchanges with Yemen at all levels and promote mutually-beneficial cooperation in multiple areas, and continue to work with members of the Friends of Yemen and the international community to play a constructive role in helping Yemen achieve stability and development.
