On December 12, 2012, Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi held talks in the Foreign Ministry with visiting Danish counterpart Villy Sovndal.

During the meeting, Yang hailed the sound momentum of bilateral ties, highlighting the frequent high-level visits, deepening mutual understanding and political mutual trust, and fruitful pragmatic cooperation between the sides in trade and economy, environmental protection, agriculture, technology and education. The two countries have also conducted humanities exchanges in various forms. "The Chinese side is willing to make joint efforts with the Danish side to advance bilateral ties, on the basis of mutual respect, equality and reciprocity, in a sustained and in-depth way," Yang said.

Sovndal said Denmark is satisfied with the status quo of bilateral ties and looks forward to more political interactions and cultural and people-to-people exchanges with China, as well as closer cooperation in two-way investment, sustainable development, renewable energy, technological innovation and medical care for the old to promote the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two nations.

The two sides also exchanged views on international and regional issues of common concern.

Sovndal is making an official visit to China from December 11 to 13 at Yang's invitation.
