Zeng Qinghong Meets with Norwegian Foreign Minister Jan Petersen

On March 28, 2005, Chinese Vice President Zeng Qinghong met in the Great Hall of the People with visiting Norwegian Foreign Minister Jan Petersen.

Zeng said Norway was one of the earliest western countries to establish diplomatic relations with China. The overall development of bilateral relations went smooth after the establishment of diplomatic ties. Currently China-Norway relations are witnessing all-round development with bilateral cooperation in economy, science, technology and culture constantly deepening. China appreciates the long-term adherence to the one-China policy by the Norwegian government. He also expressed congratulations on the upcoming 100th anniversary of Norway's independence, saying that China would like to make joint efforts with Norway to continue to promote the stable and sound development of bilateral relations.

Petersen noted that Norway-China relations are witnessing very good development with frequent top-level exchanges of visit, fast growing bilateral trade and productive cooperation in science and technology. Norway will continue to firmly uphold the one-China policy and hopes to further enhance the top-level exchanges and political mutual trust and deepen reciprocal cooperation in a bid to further Norway-China mutually beneficial cooperative relations.

Also present at the meeting were Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Yesui, Norwegian Ambassador to China Tor Christian Hildan and other officials.
