Assistant Foreign Minister Cheng Guoping Holds Consultations with Kazakh Deputy Foreign Minister Yermekbayev

On July 2, 2010, Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Cheng Guoping held consultations with visiting Kazakh Deputy Foreign Minister Nurlan B. Yermekbayev in the Chinese Foreign Ministry, exchanging views on bilateral ties and issues concerning the SCO.

Cheng pointed out that China-Kazakhstan strategic partnership has been deepening in an all-round manner with fruitful cooperation in all areas. Both sides should actively implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries and contribute to the sustained development of bilateral ties. Cheng congratulated Kazakhstan on holding the rotating presidency of the SCO, saying that China will go all out to support Kazakhstan in performing its duties as presidency country. Cheng also pledged that China will well implement the outcome of the Tashkent summit and firmly grasp the correct direction for the development of the SCO.

Yermekbayev said that the Kazakhstan-China relationship is at its highest level in history and Kazakhstan is ready to enhance cooperation with China and continue to push forward bilateral ties. Next year, the SCO will celebrate its 10th anniversary, he said, adding that Kazakhstan will advance pragmatic cooperation within the SCO in all areas with the support of China and other member states to promote peace, stability and development of the region.
