On March 6, 2013, Yu Zhengsheng, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, went to the Venezuelan Embassy in Beijing to mourn the death of its president, Hugo Chavez. Yu mourned Chavez's death on behalf of the Chinese government and laid a wreath. He also signed a book of condolence, expressing profound condolences over Chavez's death.
