2013-07-11 22:09

In the afternoon of July 10 local time, under the framework of the fifth round of the China-U.S. Strategic and Economic Dialogues (S&ED), the opening ceremony of the economic dialogue was held in Washington, D.C.. Wang Yang, the special representative of President Xi Jinping and Vice Premier of the State Council, made his remarks. He expressed his hope for the new dialogue teams of China and U.S. that they will continue to carry forward good traditions of the dialogue, to make progressive success, and to promote this round of economic dialogue for greater achievements.

Wang Yang stressed that, for this round of dialogue, first, to be candid and practical. Not to sidestep the disagreements. Try to figure out the differences, then find the ways to solve the problems. Second, to respect each other. There are always arguments when in dialogue. It is necessary to listen carefully to the other side, and try to understand its way of thinking , to create an atmosphere of equality for the dialogue. Third, to take a long-term perspective, well manage the differences, and never rush to accomplish the whole task at one stroke. Fourth, to seek common ground while reserving differences. Try hard to expand the consensus of both sides in the economic field, help the dialogue maximize positive results, and bring visible outcomes to the economic cooperation between China and U.S..
