On April 28, 2011, Premier Wen Jiabao met with the descendants of the pioneers of the 1911 Revolution and representatives of Chinese media in Kuala Lumpur.

Wen said that Malaysia is a friendly neighbor of China and the two countries enjoy a long history of friendship. One century ago, the forerunner of China's democratic revolution Dr. Sun Yat-sen stopped at Penang, Malaysia several times, planning and organizing the 1911 Revolution and left behind him a heroic history of revolution. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the 1911 Revolution. Wen is glad to gather together with all the friends to recall the glorious achievements of the revolutionary sage and carry forward the great spirit of the 1911 Revolution.

He noted that the 1911 Revolution is a great milestone in the history of the Chinese people who launched the revolution in order to change their fate. Dr. Sun Yat-sen was dedicated to spreading the revolutionary thoughts abroad throughout his life, established close ties and forged deep friendship with overseas Chinese. Dr. Sun Yat-sen relied heavily on overseas Chinese when carrying out his revolutionary activities. The support of overseas Chinese for the 1911 Revolution not only pushed China to the path of democratic republic and made outstanding contributions to China's democratic revolutionary undertaking but also exerted far-reaching impact on the national liberation movement of colonial countries. The Chinese nation will never forget their great achievements.

Wen extended gratitude to the Malaysian government for its protection of the historical sites of the 1911 Revolution and paid tribute to all parties concerned for their efforts of maintaining the historical sites, carrying forward the spirit of Dr. Sun Yat-sen and developing the traditional China-Malaysia friendship. He expects to see continuous efforts of supporting China's development process, promoting the great undertaking of reunification across the Taiwan Straits and passing China-Malaysia friendship from generation to generation.

Representatives of the descendants of the 1911 Revolution pioneers and Chinese media extended gratitude to Wen for especially organizing the meeting which demonstrates the care of the Chinese government. They recalled the heroic deeds of their predecessors and discussed lively about the spirit of Dr. Sun Yat-sen. They said that the revolutionary pioneers not only made great revolutionary achievements but also left valuable spiritual wealth. They are deeply encouraged by that. They will remember the spirit of Dr. Sun Yat-sen forever, cherish the hard-won revolutionary outcomes and make contributions to building a better home, realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and pushing forward China-Malaysia friendship.
