Li Zhaoxing Talks over Phone with Sudanese Foreign Minister

On August 24, Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing talked over phone with Sudanese Foreign Minister Mustafa Othman Ismail upon request.

Ismail briefed Li on latest developments of the Darfur issue in Sudan, saying the Sudanese government had significantly improved the security and humanitarian situations in Darfur with its active efforts and the assistance of the African Union, the League of Arab States and some other parties. The Sudanese side appreciated the humanitarian assistance offered by the Chinese government, pledging that the Sudanese government will continue to fulfill relevant commitments. The two sides agreed to keep communication and coordination in the future with the hope to find a proper solution to the Darfur issue at an early date.

On the same day, Li Zhaoxing also sent an oral message on the Darfur issue to his Pakistani counterpart Khurshid Kasuri through the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan.
