On April 8, 2010, Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Zhenmin attended the reception for outgoing UN Resident Coordinator in China Khalid Malik. Liu in his speech thanked Malik for his efforts of strengthening cooperation between the UN and China during his tenure and said that China will continue to support the UN’s important role in international affairs and is willing to work with the UN and other member states to prepare for the UN High-level Event on the Millennium Development Goals to be held in September this year and make active contributions to promoting international development cooperation. On behalf of the Foreign Ministry, Liu extended welcome to Khalid Malik’s successor and expressed continuous support for the UN agencies in China.
