On May 20, 2010, Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Zhenmin met with Cheick Sidi Diarra, United Nations Under-Secretary-General and High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States. Both sides exchanged views on the promotion of development in the least developed countries (LDCs) and the fourth United Nations Conference on the LDCs. Liu said that the Chinese government always attaches great importance to and supports the development of the LDCs and will continue to support the work of the UN Office of the High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States and actively participate in the fourth United Nations Conference on the LDCs.
