Vice Foreign Minister Li Hui Holds Consultation with Uzbek Deputy Foreign Minister Islamov

On December 22, 2008, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Li Hui held consultation with Uzbek Deputy Foreign Minister Islamov on China-Uzbekistan relations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and other issues in Tashkent.

Li made positive comments on the status quo of the bilateral ties and thanked for the strong support offered by the Uzbek side to China on major issues of Chinese concerns. He said China is ready to work with Uzbekistan to comprehensively implement the consensus reached by leaders of the two countries, further deepen political trust and expand pragmatic cooperation in all areas. China would like to enhance coordination with the Uzbek side within the United Nations, the SCO and other multilateral frameworks to push for in-depth development of bilateral friendly cooperative partnership.

Islamov said his country attaches great importance to the relationship with China and has always taken it as one of its foreign priorities. Uzbekistan is ready to further expand mutually beneficial cooperation with China on economy, trade, energy, security and humanities, keep closer communication and coordination in international and regional affairs and make unremitting efforts for peace, stability and development of the region.
