Vice Foreign Minister Li Hui Attends the Launch Ceremony of Uzbek President Karimov's New Book

On April 20, 2009, Vice Foreign Minister Li Hui attended the launch ceremony of Uzbek President Islam Karimov's new book The Road and Measures of Uzbekistan to Tackle the International Financial Crisis (Chinese translation) held in the Uzbek embassy in China and delivered a speech.

On behalf of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Li first of all extended warm congratulations on the official launch of the book in China. He said that the international financial crisis is still deepening and spreading. Based on its own national conditions and real needs, Uzbekistan has maintained the stability of domestic economy following the "development model of Uzbekistan". President Karimov in the book comprehensively and systematically analyzes the background, root causes and trend of the international financial crisis, put forward a series of policy measures including the implementation of the 2009-2012 anti-crisis plan and keeping the stability of the national financial system, which has strengthened the confidence of the government and the people of Uzbekistan and is of great reference value to other countries' efforts of coping with the crisis. China is ready to join hands with Uzbekistan to advance the bilateral pragmatic cooperation in all fields in an all-round manner, improve the capacity of fighting against the crisis and promote the stable and relatively fast growth of the two economies.

Uzbek ambassador to China Salakhitdinov Alisher chaired the launch ceremony. Vice president of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan Saidakhror Gulyamov and the president of the Tashkent State Agrarian University who were on a friendly visit to China addressed the ceremony respectively. About 40 delegates from the Chinese foreign ministry, the secretariat of Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the media were present at the ceremony.
