Premier Wen Jiabao Meets with Singapore's Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong

On April 18, 2011, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao met with visiting Singapore's Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong at the Great Hall of the People.

Wen said cooperation between China and Singapore has been fruitful in ecological environment, energy conservation and finance, adding that the two countries have also been actively implementing China-Singapore Free Trade Agreement and the China-ASEAN Free Trade Agreement and achieved important results. All these efforts have helped both sides to cope with the global financial crisis. He said in face of the complex regional and international situation, the two sides should consolidate political trust and strategic trust, further bilateral ties from a strategic and long-term perspective, and make unremitting efforts in safeguarding common interests and promoting peace, stability and prosperity in East Asia.

Goh said Sino-Singaporean Tianjin Eco-city and China-Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park have become highlights in bilateral cooperation, adding that Singapore is willing to further its cooperation with China in all areas and promote the friendly ties between the two nations.

Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi attended the meeting.
