On April 20, 2011, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao met with Malaysia's Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Mohamad Yassin in Ziguangge, Zhongnanhai.

Wen hailed the sound development of bilateral ties in recent years, especially the implementation of a joint action plan on strategic cooperation. Malaysia is China's largest trade partner in the regional bloc of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. China is ready to maintain high-level exchange, advance mutually beneficial cooperation, enhance people-to-people and cultural contact and keep closer coordination on major international and regional issues with Malaysia, so as to develop the good-neighborly friendship from generation to generation and benefit the two peoples, Wen told Yassin.

Yassin said the Malaysian government and people are looking forward to Wen's upcoming official visit. Malaysia eyes China as a reliable partner and will expand trade and investment collaboration as well as cooperation in the economy, finance, infrastructure construction and humanities sectors, he said. Malaysia will also enhance coordination and communication with China on international and regional affairs, he said.

Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi and Minister of Education Yuan Guiren were present at the meeting.
